Iroko Pharmaceuticals has signed its fifth international licensing deal for its pain medicine Zorvolex.

The Philadelphia specialty pharmaceutical company said Tuesday it has reached a licensing agreement with Landsteiner Scientific, which obtained the exclusive rights to market and sell Zorvolex capsules in Mexico.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Under the terms of the agreement, Landsteiner Scientific of Mexico will be responsible for obtaining regulatory and pricing approval, and for the marketing and distribution of the medication.

Zorvolex is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the management of mild to moderate acute pain and osteoarthritis pain. The drug is not approved in any other country.

Iroko previously signed Zorvolex licensing deals with Algorithm SAL for the Middle East and North Africa; with Pratapa Nirmala Farenheit for Indonesia; with EMS in Brazil, and with Calox for Latin America.

John Vavricka, president and CEO of Iroko, said the company plans to continue pursuing deal to expand its "global commercialization footprint."
