SEPTEMBER PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,984 original drilling permits in September 2011 compared to 1,434 in September 2010. The September total included 1,763 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 47 to re-enter existing well bores, and 174 for re-completions. Permits issued in September 2011 included 602 oil, 184 gas, 1,123 oil and gas, 62 injection, five service and eight other permits.
AUGUST CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary August 2011 crude oil production averaged 983,864 barrels daily, up from the 922,285 barrels daily average of August 2010.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for August 2011 is 30,499,770 barrels, up from 28,590,826 barrels reported during August 2010.
SEPTEMBER OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In September 2011, operators reported 323 oil, 260 gas, 19 injection and one other completion compared to 512 oil, 371 gas, 24 injection and one other completion during September 2010.
Total well completions for 2011 year to date are 5,944 down from 7,974 recorded during the same period in 2010.
Operators reported 668 holes plugged and zero dry holes in September 2011 compared to 696 holes plugged and three dry holes in September 2010.
AUGUST NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 543,112,563 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for August 2011 down from the August 2010 preliminary gas production total of 570,940,740 Mcf.
Texas production in August 2011 came from 145,654 oil wells and 92,002 gas wells.
