AUGUST PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 2,051 original drilling permits in August 2011 compared to 1615 in August 2010. The August total included 1,820 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 48 to re-enter existing well bores, and 183 for re-completions. Permits issued in August 2011 included 527 oil, 240 gas, 1,191 oil and gas, 74 injection, two service and 17 other permits.
JULY CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary July 2011 crude oil production averaged 960,612 barrels daily, up from the 925,456 barrels daily average of July 2010.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for July 2011 is 29,778,956 barrels, up from 28,689,135 barrels reported during July 2010.
AUGUST OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In August 2011, operators reported 365 oil, 240 gas, 46 injection and zero other completions compared to 402 oil, 314 gas, 58 injection and one other completion during August 2010.
Total well completions for 2011 year to date are 5,341 down from 7,066 recorded during the same period in 2010.
Operators reported 175 holes plugged and zero dry holes in August 2011 compared to 556 holes plugged and zero dry holes in August 2010.
JULY NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 548,055,805 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for July 2011 down from the July 2010 preliminary gas production total of 577,492,594 Mcf.
Texas production in July 2011 came from 144,587 oil wells and 93,029 gas wells.
