JUNE PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,876 original drilling permits in June 2013 compared to 2,183 in June 2012. The June total included 1,632 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 19 to re-enter existing well bores, and 225 for re-completions. Permits issued in June 2013 included 589 oil, 117 gas, 1,095 oil and gas, 52 injection, one service and 22 other permits.
MAY CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary May 2013 crude oil production averaged 1,684,572 barrels daily, up from the 1,240,091 barrels daily average of May 2012.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for May 2013 is 52,221,747 barrels, up from 38,690,818 barrels reported during May 2012.
JUNE OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In June 2013, operators reported 1,826 oil, 405 gas, 66 injection and six other completions compared to 905 oil, 371 gas, 62 injection and one other completion in June 2012.
Total well completions for 2013 year to date are 12,740 up from 7,585 recorded during the same period in 2012.
Operators reported 41 holes plugged and zero dry holes in June 2013 compared to 809 holes plugged and two dry holes in June 2012.
MAY NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 557,899,127 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for May 2013 up from the May 2012 preliminary gas production total of 546,248,239 Mcf. Texas preliminary April total gas production averaged 17,996,746 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) a day.
Texas production in May 2013 came from 155,983 oil wells and 91,437 gas wells.
