NOVEMBER PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,454 original drilling permits in November 2010 compared to 1,092 in November 2009. The November total included 1,212 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 31 to re-enter existing well bores, and 211 for re-completions. Permits issued in November 2010 included 348 oil, 196 gas, 850 oil and gas, 43 injection, 10 service and seven other permits.
OCTOBER CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary October 2010 crude oil production averaged 908,436 barrels daily, up from the 899,419 barrels daily average of October 2009.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for October 2010 is 28,161,530 barrels, up from 27,881,978 barrels reported during October 2009.
NOVEMBER OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In November 2010, operators reported 333 oil, 242 gas, 25 injection and one other completion compared to 459 oil, 486 gas, 60 injection and one other completion during November 2009.
Total well completions for 2010 year to date are 9,324 down from 14,580 recorded during the same period in 2009.
Operators reported 557 holes plugged and one dry hole in November 2010 compared to 426 holes plugged and zero dry holes in November 2009.
OCTOBER NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 559,945,639 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for October 2010 down from the October preliminary gas production total of 579,920,557.
Texas production in October 2010 came from 137,832 oil wells and 89,698 gas wells.
