Check out this section for several observations in blog form, the day after the big game(s). This new feature, titled the Press Box, will contain analysis and opinionated remarks from an NT Daily sports writer.

  • Freshman linebacker Sed Ellis provided the biggest hit of the Mean Green season late in the fourth quarter on the Middle Tennessee State quarterback. Since the video as posted on YouTube Saturday night, the video has gathered 448 Facebook likes and 13,391 views – far and away the most viewed video on the Mean Green Athletics profile.
  • Twitter hashtags #FillApogee and #30k were popular leading up to the game by fans, players and coaches trying to get as many people to go to the Mean Green home games this year. But on a rainy Saturday, the final attendance was only 21,171 people.
  • This was without doubt the best rushing performance by the Mean Green this season, with the UNT running backs combining for 303 yards. Of course, last time MTSU played at Apogee in 2011, former running back Lance Dunbar rushed for an all-time record of 313 yards by himself.
  • Now halfway through the season, the Mean Green is 3-3 for the first time since 2003. All three wins have happened at Apogee Stadium while UNT has yet to win on the road. The team hopes that changes as it plays its next two games away from home.
