The Press Box: Mean Green volleyball beats UTA

Check out this section for several observations in blog form, the day after the big game(s). This new feature, titled the Press Box, will contain analysis and opinionated remarks from an NT Daily sports writer.
- The season opener had a lot of energy inside the volleyball gym. For a sport that must compete in the fall with the massively popular football, it’s nice to see the UNT faithful come out and pack the gym on opening night. That kind of support is hard to get anywhere else.
- If Amy Henard is a freshman, I can’t tell! She is playing just as good as the upper classmen around her. Despite her youth, she could be a difference make on the team from last year.
- The atmosphere is helped when the Volleyball Pep Band is playing and getting the crowd pumped up for the game. They easily are the most entertaining part of the game — aside from the actual players.
- Sophomore outside hitter Analisse Shannon had the play of the game. She chased a ball out of bounds, fell over a chair and then returned to register an assist to Hannah Forst for the kill. Talk about a hustle play.
