Needs work.

I'm sure you will dismiss this negative review as "trolling", but I felt compelled to leave this, to warn potential listeners.

While I admire the amount of time and work that it takes to produce a podcast, this is not a good show.

Rudie's voice does not lend itself to pleasurable audio experiences, and can't seem to figure out how to edit a podcast. He also brings a very pretentious tone of voice to the show, without the knowledge to back up the attitude. Rudie stutters through most of the discussion, repeats himself, and in the end doesn't really say anything meaningful or thought-provoking.

West certainly brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and enthusiasm to the table, but I found his Radio Conelrad podcast much more enjoyable.

For something entitled "the AuteurCast" this show leaves a lot to be desired. The thing with podcasts like this is that they are not time-sensitive. There is no reason that this podcast couldn't have been refined, and spent more time in the editing room. Also, Rudie might want to spend some time and learn how to set up his microphone properly.

I find most negative reviews on iTunes to be unnecessarily dismissive, and so I hope that this piece of constructive criticism is taken to heart.

Rocky start

As a listener of the Criterion Cast, it seemed pretty clear that Rudie was not all that interested in discussing the Criterion end of things. Hopefully this podcast will give him the chance to continue talking about movies, as he is clearly very enthusiastic about the types of things that he's interested in. I think West was a great choice as a co-host, as he definitely does his homework. I'm not sure if I'll keep listening, due to the spotty audio quality, and the very tepid conversations. It seems like there is so much to discuss, when covering these films, but the podcast barely scratches the surface, and does little in the way of actually going through the films that Tarantino is inspired by (except of course, for West, as he usually brings a lot of historical information to the discussion). Hopefully the show will bring a more rounded cast of characters, who will perhaps disagree with the others, and spice things up.

Also, there is really no reason to keep saying "you are listening to the Auteur Cast," since we downloaded it, we know what we're listening to, this is not a live radio station that we turned the dial to!

The Missing Link from the CriterionCast

Rudie was one of the reasons I liked the CriterionCast so much, and it's simply not the same without him. His new podcast is a great chance for him to discuss great movies without being restricted to only talking about Criterion titles. While the Criterion Collection is great, there are so many other great films that deserve discussion.
