Brutally Beaten Giants Fan Bryan Stow Speaks Publicly For First Time Since Dodgers Stadium Attack

CAPITOLA (CBS SF) — Bryan Stow, the Giants fan beaten in a Dodger Stadium parking lot on Opening Day 2011, is speaking publicly for the first time since the attack.
Stow watched Game 1 of the World Series at his parent’s Capitola home where he now lives and continues to root for his favorite team. He was beaten outside the Dodgers Stadium back in 2011, leaving him with serious brain injuries. Now an emotional ESPN interview reveals he’s made tremendous progress since the attack.
Stow said the Giant’s recent run has been a blessing to his life. When asked why he loved the Giants, he said, “Why not? Who else am I going to like? The A’s? The Dodgers? No. The Giants are where it’s at.”
Stow has an enviable collection of sports memorabilia — a testament that the team he supports has supported him, too.
He still needs around-the-clock care. He was awarded an $18 million statement, but has not received the money because of setbacks with the court. Regardless, Stow says he’s happy with his life.
“Yeah, just being alive,” he said. “Waking up every morning and knowing that I’m here. Being at this place makes me feel good.”
There are holes in his memory, including the Giants winning the World Series in 2010 and 2012. The last thing he remembers about that the day is going to the game. His parents say they created the memory of the attack for him so that he can understand what he’s been through.
