A better City--- A better Mansfield!
In 2008 the Mansfield City Council voted to allow gas well drilling and production within the same property as day care facilities, schools and residential areas, and reduce the distance between homes and gas wells to as little as 600 feet. In 2008 there were no scientific studies examining the health impacts of gas drilling in densely populated urban and suburban neighborhoods. But now there is new science and technology.
While other Texas Cities have updated their gas well ordinances to include this new science, Mansfield still remains out of step with that change. Mansfield is already saturated with over 200 drilled gaswells with another 306 permitted to drill. This activity has brought increase in nuisance odors, traffic, noise, and air pollution. Concerns have emerged regarding safety, excess water consumption, aesthetics of neighborhoods and property values. We have to ask ourselves do we want to continue to turn a blind eye to the negative impacts that these unregulated industrial uses have brought into our growing community --or--do we choose to work together to develop a progressive community with proactive ordinances, protect citizen rights and be a place for future generations to thrive. By signing this petition you tell Mansfield City Council that there is a need to provide protective Gas well ordinances

How Fast Does Your Child Run is our First Mansfield Gas Well Awareness flyer. This flyer contains information related to why we need to update our Gas Well Drilling and Production Ordinances. We have asked Dr. Anne Epstein to speak on "A Medical Perspective on Gas Drilling." Dr. Espstein recently commented in the Ft Worth Weekly regarding the findings of Project Playground: Cleaner Air for Active Kids, where dangerous chemicals such as Benzene have been found at playgrounds within the Metroplex. Please take the time to read this flyer and attend the meeting held at Holiday Inn Express in Mansfield, Tx on October 29th at 7pm
