FOX19 has hired a new co-anchor for its weekday morning show following Jacki Jing's exit from the position after only nine months.

Kara Sewell will begin her on-air duties at the station on Dec. 8. She comes to Cincinnati from KWCH-TV in Wichita, Kan., where she anchored morning and noon newscasts. Prior to that, she anchored and reported at KOSA-TV in Midland, Texas.

"We really liked the fact that she has several years of experience on the morning anchor desk. She has a great reputation in Wichita and is very engaged in the same community organizations we are, including the Susan G. Komen Foundation," Bill Lanesey, vice president/general manager of FOX19, said in a statement. "She gelled instantly with Rob (Williams), Frank (Marzullo), and Denise (Johnson). We think she will be a tremendous addition to the Cincinnati morning landscape."

Sewell has a bachelor's degree in communication and media studies from Stephen F. Austin State University.

The change at FOX19 is the most recent in a string of on-air news personalities switching at Cincinnati TV stations, including Clyde Gray's retirement at WCPO, Kit Andrews' exit from WKRC (Local 12) and Larry Handley's departure from WCPO.
