JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP/KMOX) – Stericycle released a statement saying it has reached a voluntary agreement with Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster “confirming that it has not, and will not, accept, store or treat Ebola-contaminated waste in its St. Louis facility.”

Should healthcare facilities in Missouri encounter a suspected or confirmed Ebola case, the statement says, Stericycle will be available to work with facilities to find other disposal options.

Koster had sought to block the sterilization company from handling any medical waste contaminated with Ebola at its facility.

Koster said Friday he had asked a St. Louis Circuit judge to grant a temporary restraining order against Stericycle Inc., saying treating waste potentially infected with Ebola poses a threat to workers.

Stericycle received a federal permit earlier this month to remove waste from the Texas hospital and home where a man with Ebola virus stayed before dying.
