Man Dies After Violent Crash On City Avenue

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — UPDATE: The southbound lanes of City Avenue have been reopened.
Investigators say a man has died after he was ejected from his car during a violent crash near the campus of St. Joseph’s University early Wednesday morning.
The crash happened at about 4:30 a.m. on City Avenue near 59th Street.
The car flipped over several times, ejecting the man from the vehicle.
Debris from the car and trees that the car struck littered the roadway, and an electrical pole was knocked down.
The man was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead at about 6:30 a.m.
City Avenue was closed from 54th to 59th Street until crews could clean up the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
