(Las Vegas, NV) —  A wounded veteran is realizing his goal of homeownership after being given the keys to a mortgage-free home.

Marine veteran Lance Corporal Nino Ray Capanang, his wife Emilie, and their three children saw their new house for the first time on Monday.

Capanang enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2005. During deployment to Iraq, where he served as a combat rifleman, he was wounded by gunfire that resulted in serious injury. Capanang was medically discharged from the military and awarded the Purple Heart.

Wells Fargo and the Military Warriors Support Foundation help veterans, like LCpl Capernang, transition back to civilian life.  For his service and sacrifice, MWSF selected him to receive a mortgage-free home through the organization’s Homes4WoundedHeroes and Homes4GoldStars programs.

In addition, Wells Fargo is providing $20,000 for three years of financial counseling required by MWSF as part of his transition to become a homeowner.
