LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified a woman who died and a man who was injured in a domestic violence-related fight at their Las Vegas home.
Clark County coroner’s officials say 40-year-old Jodi Sunshine Joyce of Las Vegas was found dead Monday morning in a home on Berkley Hall Street, near Buffalo and Grand Teton drives.
Officers who arrived say a man threatened officers from a locked area of the home and said he would shoot anyone who entered.
Members of a SWAT team entered the home and found Jodi Joyce dead and 52-year-old James Joyce unconscious with multiple stab wounds.
He was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.
Investigators believe the couple was in a fight when James Joyce stabbed Jodi Joyce. They say James Joyce then began stabbing himself.
Joyce was reportedly arrested on a domestic violence charge earlier this year after his then-wife had been battered.
