HOUSTON, Texas (CBS Houston) – A bar in Houston is selling a 1.5-ounce pourshot of whiskey for $750.
Reserve 101 is selling one of the rarest and expensive whiskeys in the world, The Pride 1978.
The 34-year-old whiskey is first aged for 19 years in used bourbon casks made from American white oak. It’s then transferred to Bordeaux Classe’ Grand Cru casks for 15 more years of aging.
It is the longest ever extra-maturation for a Glenmorangie whiskey.
Samples of The Pride 1978 were given away Monday at the downtown EaDo Houston whiskey bar because it was their first day selling the expensive drink.
The bottle at Reserve 101 is the first bottle of the liquor to make it to America and is also the most expensive at the restuarant.
