Tailgate Take: The Tornado Tailgate

I was really looking forward to the finale of the Tailgate Triple header this weekend in St. Louis. After the Cardinals and Giants split the first two games in the NLCS, the 49ers came to town to try and bring the Melonheads out!

But overshadowing that storyline this weekend for the Tailgate Fan Pro crew was that the tailgate outside the Edward James Olmos Dome, er wait… the Edward Jones Dome, would be happening during a legitimate Tornado Watch!!!

That’s right, Dorothy, we’re not in Kansas anymore… We’re in Missouri, it’s right next to the… You know what, just get a map!

Now we’ve dealt with shooting in the rain… naked…

No bigs, we just got an expensive rain cover for the camera, which still manages to look like a garbage bag. Also, we shot in the swamp heat of Tampa Bay on a 100-degree day last year…

Mmmm Melty… immediately followed by a 0-degree windchill in Detroit, where I stripped down to a man-kini and got in a hot tub!

And yes I was hunting for “Whabbits!” So, yeah, we’re accustomed to bad weather, but a tornado is the real deal… I remember having to hide in the basement as a kid. It was frightening… Thankfully when I woke up I was surrounded by little people and had these sweet red kicks on… Okay, that didn’t happen, but it’s not every week that you get to feel like Dorothy!

Half Ram and Half Man… come to think of it, I wish I asked which half. And hey, we didn’t die, which was probably the best thing that happened to us this weekend considering we tailgated in a Tornado zone…
