Bonnie & Clyde

Bonnie & Clyde

By Jennifer Davis-Lamm

Spoiler alert, y’all: Bonnie and Clyde do not ride off into the sunset, despite the fact that this is a musical. Nothing changes in the general plot: the outlaws still get gunned down in the end after they do a number of really bad things. The difference here is that there’s a sound track—a fairly upbeat one, considering the carnage--full of gospel, rag-time and a touch of country. There’s also dash of socio-political commentary about income inequality thrown into the star-crossed lovers’ over-the-top ambitions, but mostly this is the same lurid tale we all know and (improbably) love. WaterTower Theatre’s Kayla Carlyle and John Campione step into the shoes of the titular characters in this production of Bonnie and Clyde, breathing new life into the long-dead Depression era gangsters who wanted it all. The notorious killers screech toward their inevitable end during performances between Friday, October 10 and Sunday, November 2 at the Addison Conference Center, 15650 Addison Road. Shows are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays, and 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. Tickets are $20 to $40, and are recommended for mature audiences only. Visit watertowertheatre.org.
