On Tuesday, Albuquerque officials unveiled a "sneak preview" of the newly redesigned Albuquerque Convention Center.

The plans were more than two years in the making, and Business First has been there as the story unfolded and the work progressed.

Details of what was coming in the redesign were first revealed in 2012. The work progressed in multiple phases. Along the way, the Convention Center jettisoned some older fixtures, even putting some of its older kitchen equipment up for auction. And Downtown businesses and residents had to learn a new way around the heart of the city as the work prompted a street closing.

Earlier this year, we took a detailed look at what went into the renovation work.

The renovation's unveiling this year comes as Albuquerque's convention industry is seeing both big growth and big challenges, as reporter Dan Mayfield noted in March.

Now that the renovation's been unveiled, we'll continue to follow how the city's convention business fares with the updated property.
