Michael Peticolas | Craft Beer Insider

Michael Peticolas is a fifth generation Texas trial attorney and owner/operator of Dallas’ Peticolas Brewing Company.
After practicing law for a decade, Michael accomplished the legal industry goals he set for himself while a law student. As a result, he turned to his passion for craft beer and enrolled in the American Brewers Guild’s Intensive Brewing Science and Engineering course. Upon completion, he began the process of opening a brewery, which included amending the Dallas Property Code to allow for the establishment of a brewery within the City of Dallas.

On December 30, 2011, Michael brewed Peticolas Brewing Company’s first beer, the Velvet Hammer. Michael acted as the brewery’s sole brewer, cellarman, distributor, and brewery representative for nearly a year. An army of volunteers pitched in to help and are largely responsible for the brewery’s success.

During the first year of operations, Peticolas Brewing Company won the biggest award in the brewing industry, a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival for its Royal Scandal, an English pale ale. Over the course of the first two years of operations, the brewery won more than 20 other local and national awards, including Dallas’ best beer and Dallas’ best brewery.

Michael currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Texas Craft Brewers Guild and has a particular interest in legislative affairs that impact Texas brewers.
