In the more than two months since Ferguson erupted in protest after the death of Michael Brown, the town has become both a magnet for activists and a metaphor for social ills. But for local journalists, the story is still the flesh and blood of the community itself. Brooke talks with Kenya Vaughn, a reporter for the St. Louis American, an historic African-American newspaper.

Kenya Martin did a terrific job describing the environment and situation in Ferguson. She did it so well that even a 50+ year old white guy from the suburbs can now better understand the frustration and anger expressed by the people in the Ferguson community.
