Benj Pocta is a bartender living in Oak Cliff, Texas. He is fascinated by alcohol and its symbiotic relationship with culture. “The old adage that alcohol is ‘the cause of — and solution to — all of life’s problems’ might be an overstatement,” Pocta says. “But I do think a full life often involves a full glass.”
Pocta has worked in a variety of contexts over the last decade. From writing and recording music, to working in craft coffee, to creating cocktails in an award-winning restaurant, he has followed his passions while pushing himself to be taught by every experience. While always a sucker for well-executed classics, Pocta is also interested in new techniques, tools, ingredients, and flavor pairings as they pertain to mixed drinks.
This summer Pocta is opening a small brewpub with some friends in Oak Cliff called, appropriately, Small Brewpub. Pocta will work with Small to offer great house beers, cocktails, and food in an atmosphere both welcoming and engaging.
