Video: Trustee Bernadette Nutall physically removed from school by Dallas ISD police
Click here to watch the video.
Security cameras inside a Dallas ISD middle school recorded the removal of a trustee by school district police last week.
The security footage obtained by The Dallas Morning News shows a brief exchange between trustee Bernadette Nutall and Superintendent Mike Miles before she is removed by three district police officers. Nutall said last week that Miles accused her of trespassing and ordered the officers to remove her from Dade Middle School. The video doesn’t include audio.
She was ejected shortly before a staff meeting took place at Dade to discuss the replacement of the top campus administrators and 10 teachers. DISD spokesman Jon Dahlander said last week that the meeting was between school employees and district administrators.
Miles asked Nutall to apologize for the incident at a community meeting Thursday. At the same meeting, Nutall asked him to apologize.
The video shows Miles talking to someone on the cell phone before police arrive. According to a Dallas ISD police incident report, Miles talked to police Chief Craig Miller and assistant chief Gary Hodges before Nutall was removed. Hodges, officer Jose Rodriguez and Sgt. Russell Rojas removed her from Dade.
The video shows Rojas and Rodriguez holding Nutall’s arms as they toss her from the main entrance at Dade.
Dallas ISD police said Nutall faced a criminal trespassing charge if she didn’t leave Dade. The incident has caused people to rally behind both Miles and Nutall. Her supporters assert Miles lacked the authority to eject Nutall and that he shouldn’t have called the police. His supporters believe that Nutall shouldn’t have been at the school and had no right to attend the staff meeting.
Police removed Nutall before the staff meeting started. She said last week she didn’t plan on attending the meeting and only went to Dade to encourage teachers.

Carmen D. never learned table manners. Push back in your chair, don
flippantly huffing off after answering questions VERY disrespectful. -
I know some of you will frown at this idea. Aw heck, I'll give it a try.
If 5,000 of us put $200 in the pot, $200. x 5,000 teachers = $1,000,000 for Miles to walk away from the Dallas Independent School District. That is how much I want this man to leave. It's worth it! I'll be the first to make my donation. -
Can someone tell me what is going on at the board meeting? Would love an update. Are they still chanting? I am sitting in my chair with my granddaughter (5th grader DISD) and we are chanting together as well. LOL She understands.

Solis said he didn't want things to fester but what does he think is going to happen if the BOT doesn't handle this situation. Just talking about it behind closed doors doesn't mean anything. They have to do something. They have to show that they meant it when they included that Miles must work with the entire board in his contract. They are not serious about anything. If they do not uphold the perameters set forth in his contract then how can they hold anyone accountable for what is in their contract? They have set a prescedent.
-
Miles you SUCK as a leader. Solis you have no idea and Nancy you forgot to take your medicine. Morath no comment for you.

Thanks to the bloggers who posted about senorita hernandez at l.o.donald elementary. I will visit them soon and senorita hernandez and sister davis will be reassigned as they are horrible at kissing my butt. I will teach them a lesson for not mistreating teachers and staff as draffish as I expect them. Last school year they only ran out 20 good teachers and staff and now I want all non-TFA old teachers out. Hope senorita hernandez aka, Ms. H and sister davis (the idiot one) will mistreat all non-TFA teachers and staff horrible and terrorize all subs. love, FMM.

I have been working overtime for someone to give me the sigal about cutting the last check for the superintendent. Mean while the board is costing the taxpayers more and more money the longer Miles stays in the district. A wise person said today it's not that they can't get rid of Miles like yesterday but the fact that the board is too proud and they would have to pay his no count behind. Board members take note that Miles is making a big fool out of you evryone is laughing including Miles not behind your backs but in your faces.

Congrats to Floyd Mike Miles! He is the 2014 recipient of the Golden 💩 Award. Ms. Nutall, please do the honors.

Dr. Winkler, researching your past. Today we publish your past positions:
Winkler was inspired to pursue a career in administration because a fellow colleague who tole him running a school is the same thing as leading a fine arts program (which Winkler was very successful at, give credit where credit is due). BUT, it is not the same thing. Leading a fine arts program is totally different than being a principal of a school, leading instruction and discipline in all areas of the school. No comparison, that's why we have directors of fine arts programs in addition to principals.
In the last 10 years, Winkler has had the following administrative positions. Notice a pattern, he not only switches schools a lot, he switches districts a lot as well:
Orchestra Director in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Elementary School (yes, director in elementary school is the same as being an administrator of a middle school???)
Assistant Principal @ Vivian Field Middle School, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD
Assistant Principal Frankford Middle School, Plano ISD
Associate Principal Lovejoy High School
Principal Lakeside Middle School, Little Elm ISD (only 1 year tenure, 2013-2014
Now Principal at Greiner Middle School, Dallas ISD, one of the largest middle schools in the state of Texas.
Why why why.
And please remember, your Lakeside Middle School had 0 distinctions last year, Greiner had 7, yes 7, the maximum # of distinctions.
I still wonder why Ms. Gibson, successful Associate Principal at Greiner for nearly a decade wasn't given the chance to be Greiner Principal. She was full of Greiner pride, knew the school operations inside and out, and was overlooked. Now she is gone. -
David Lee, thank you as always for being there. If only Honea and Weingarten were as diligent and vocal.
-
Speaking of expectations. Why did Miles bring his wife and son to Texas and now they are back in Colorado while he remains on the job here???? Could it be that DISD was not good enough for his son or wiffey did not like the drama hubby was apart of??? Are they still married??? What???? Miles did not want his son to endure the havoc in disd but it's ok if I work in the district and my child is a disd student left to witness his bazzar behavior first hand. Miles your family expects you to live in the same household with them go on home now so she will not have to call Tyrone.
-
Unbelievable. Bingham, Jones, et al. Where is the voice of the people you SERVE?
-
Now Jones with principal for a day? Let's stop this horsecrap and speak to the real problem: Mike Miles, Eli Broad, and the decimation of public education in this democratic republic!! Stand down BOT. Serve the public as you are elected to do!
-
Miles and the board discuss ebola? Carnivals? Tutoring corruption? What of the people's concerns of Miles's behavior? What of Miles's failed initiatives? What of resignation? Don't thanks us. Do away with Miles and his ridiculous Destination 2020.
-
Solis please get it right or shut the H up! You stated in a recent article how as the board president you do not want the situation that Miles created adding insult to injury regarding Nutall not to fester. How so when Miles created the situation and is too anal to man up about his wrong doings in any situation. In the same article Miles stated the reasons he made changes at Dade recently is that little teaching was taking place poor instruction and low expectations. It was a atmospheree of chaos and inattentiveness and HE had the authority to remove a board member from that campus. Well Mr. Miles Floyd Jerk or whatever you go by on any given day most campuses have days that don't always go peachy king like you think WE at the campus levels deal with the Shit that you don't want to or can't deal with. Seems like you are the one who has festered many things in this district including your little lack of leadership poor instruction and your nonsense expectations. You are the one who has created an inattentiveness atmospheree. You have it twisted and should be tossed out by the board who has the authority to do so.

Crowd at Dallas ISD board meeting chants, "no apology, resignation." Board President Miguel Solis recesses the meeting for five minutes. The crowd has chanted throughout the meeting.

Police are walking around and people are leaving....possibly being asked to leave?

Several dozen people chant “no apology, resignation” at Dallas ISD board meeting today. They’re upset... goo.gl/zO9RFG #talkDISDby DFPE.ORG via twitter 10/22/2014 11:42:40 PM

Several dozen people chant “no apology, resignation” at Dallas ISD board meeting today. They’re upset with Superintendent Mike Miles, who had police officers remove trustee Bernadette Nutall from Dade Middle School last week. Board President Solis says he will recess the meeting if crowd doesn't maintain decorum.
-
Well. His highness would not appreciate public input, would he?
-
Forget the apology--tell Miles to get out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Non agenda speakers are moved to the front of the meeting instead of at the end.
-
Board meeting on. So far the 3 speakers mention the awful job that Miles have done, and all brought up Miles tossing Nutall out....wow..chanting going on now
-
Dear Miss Edu, Perhaps the dearth of willing litigators might be explained by DISD's recent public bid to hire outside counsel. Why roll the dice on compensation when the trough is full and has plenty of room for so many to feed?
-
I have students who graduated from Greiner. They are, without exception, stellar. They write well, think deeply, speak intelligently, and have impeccable classroom manners. You folk are to be honored for your great success. I salute you and hold you in the highest esteem. Thank you for your hard work all these years. I am humbled by your dedication and effort.
-
“We the (willing) led by the unknowing are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much for so long with so little we are now qualified to do anything with absolutely nothing.”
But we can’t do it if fools won’t GET OUT OF OUR WAY.
I don’t know where the problem here is coming from – Winkler, Villapondo, Miles. All I know is that suddenly, there is so much detritus in our way, so much paperwork, so much micromanaging, so many meetings, that we can hardly see through it to our students. It is October, and yet our most seasoned soldiers already feel an exhaustion equivalent to the spring semester.
I don’t understand why we’re being messed with. Our methods have proven us successful time and again. Yet we have a brand new Executive Director with no experience (and what accolades???) who feels she has the right to come in and change our methods. We have a brand new principal who lacks the experience to run an inner city school of our sheer size and brings no accolades to the table at all. His previous school had zero distinctions? Where does he get off telling us what to do? What makes him or Villapondo think they know better than us? We remaining veteran teachers, the ones who have continually put Greiner at the top of the list year after year, do not need to be told how to teach. We need to be asked how to teach.
If Miles were a wise leader he would come to us and ask us for our methods and listen to our opinions. He would ask us to share with others outside of Greiner. We would do it. Happily!
But we will not conform. Go ahead. Cram this down our throats. Tell us we’re not good enough. Ride us and nag us over minutia and see where it gets you next year, when your best and brightest have cut and run. For years we have been doing the impossible for the ungrateful with absolutely nothing. We have done it without raises, stipends, or bonuses. We have done it without the support of parents for students who cuss at us, skip our classes, blow off our homework, and tell us school is dumb and our careers are a waste of time. We have endured. We have fought. We have succeeded under the most adverse of circumstances. But circumstances, it seems, have finally exceeded our endurance. We will not tolerate this ingratitude from our so-called “superiors.”
Stop now and allow us to do what we’ve always done, or else you will deal with a hideous turnover at the end of the year and scores next year will plummet. That, my friends, is a promise. -
Looks like the P4P scam is on and the fix is in--distinguished teacher review paperwork will be due a month earlier than expected. Moved from Dec 1 to Nov 1. Anybody else heard of this? Now we have a week and half to scramble in the hope of seeing the last salary increase we'll ever see. Now that's a fair system when the rules to the game change at the drop of a hat. Is this a litigious event?

Moving forward Dallas ISD new Superintendent should bring back our top investigator and investigate all contracts that have been given, especially connected to our school board trustees and other corruption including fraudulent applications not to mentions: missing equipment. I should throw in district employees that receive funds from corporate organizations to privatize the district. I can see five or six board members that are breaking out in sweat now. Lol

My Dear Mrs. H. This is a message from all teachers, former subs,
Good Morning, MS. HERNANDEZ!!!! Hope you have a great day MS. HERNANDEZ!!!!
Is this a NO DOL Day MS. HERNANDEZ!!!! Did you kiss Masa Miles azz this morning MS. HERNANDEZ!!!! -
@Zombie, if you see Señorita HERNANDEZ or Sister Davis anytime soon, tell them I wouldn't sub there if they paid me $200 dollars a day. Sounds like she is a member of the elite "Yesuh Masa Miles, Suh" team. And BTW, OMG!! You just exposed L. O. Donald Elementary School to the next Massacre just like the last "Billy Earl Dade Massacre." Loooooooook Out Teachers at L. O. Donald, trouble is lurkin!!!!!!!!! Miles' is a commin'
-
The blogger who days ago posted about L. O. Donald Elementary's principal from hell was so right. I subed in that Alcatraz school and yes, that principal is from hell. She orders the teachers to address her as Ms. H and not Ms Hernandez. If you do not call her Ms. H you are doomed. Also,ms he yelled at teachers and students and hates subs. Her assistant's name is Davis. She diesn't know what she is doing. She is so clueless but acts as she knows everything and yells at the kids a lot. This assistant to the principal from hell caters to any black person. If you are black, that's your school. Davis hates Hispanics and lets blacks get away with anything. The music teacher is always yelling at the kids and Davis acts as if she did not hear anything. Stay away from that school and Fromm the schools in that area. You will experience discrimination and you will be belittled by those principals. I am talking by experience. Have a nice day all of you as I am getting ready to sub in a school up north where subs are treated with respect and appreciated.

Blog commenter "c cc" has just declared Miles utterly sabotaged by (brace yourself for some fresh new rhetoric here) those lazy, gravy-snorting DISD teachers, and calls for TEA to take over DISD. Mnn, yesss..Perry appointee takes over district... that would definitely be the best thing for the kids! And for Texas! (waves giant foam spirit finger) www.dallasnews.com

I bet the next people on the chopping block will be the officers that were following Miles orders. He will accuse them of making him look bad when they escorted her off the premises. They were just following orders but they will be collateral damage.
