Doug Wagner

Doug Wagner grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota where he was involved with music and electronics from an early age. “I always loved music; I would sing or play in almost any kind of group. I couldn’t think of anything I would rather do. I also had a fascination for anything that used electricity.” He received a B.S. in music from the University of North Dakota after a tour of duty as an bandsman in the US Army, and taught music for a short time. He went back to school, became an electronics technician, and then specialized in computer technology.

Doug was a professional musician for many years, having his own band along the way. He participated in community music programs in North Dakota and Colorado. He joined the Forest Service in 1994 and quickly found his way to the Fiddlin’ Foresters and also to the fire program as a computer specialist. He is currently a computer specialist with State and Private Forestry in the Rocky Mountain Region. “What a wonderful time I’ve had with the Forest Service, playing music and playing with computers. It’s a boyhood dream come true.”
